Ground Agama in the Kgalagadi

A ground agama (Agama aculeata) rests on the pale sandy terrain of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, its textured body blending closely with the dry Kalahari environment. The blue-green colouring around the head adds a striking contrast to the muted tones of the surrounding sand and scrub. This image highlights the camouflage and subtle colour variation of one of southern Africa’s characteristic arid-region reptiles.
