Lioness Portrait in the Kgalagadi

A close portrait of an African lioness (Panthera leo) photographed in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Her face fills the frame as she holds her mouth open, revealing the powerful jaws and teeth characteristic of Africa’s largest cat. The warm, natural tones of her coat blend with the dry Kalahari environment, creating an intimate wildlife portrait that highlights the strength, detail and expression of a wild lion in its natural habitat.
